Jurassic Parka Holds Lead, Kyle Pulls into Second

“Iron Man 2” continues its reign on the HFL, and if there is any silver lining for the rest of the HFL, at least it’s down to its final week to score points.

While Jurassic Parka maintains its seat atop the leader board, Points on the Back End got big performances from “Robin Hood” and the debut of “Shrek Forever After”, catapulting Kyle’s team into second place. Points on the Back End will surely be the second team to cross the 100 point mark, but will not have the momentum to catch the albatross that is IM2.

Another debut this weekend was Rated NC-17’s “McGruber”. The more fitting title is probably “McSucker” as it scored only 2 points its opening weekend, and looks like the early favorite for the yet-unnamed “Worst Draft Pick of the Season” award.

The upcoming weekend will be a big one for the HFL, as “Oceans”, “Sex and the City 2”, and “Prince of Persia” hit theatres. Early reviews for “Sex and the City 2” and “Prince of Persia” are not encouraging, while “Oceans” is currently trending at 75 on Metacritic. If families turn out for the marine documentary, it could turn out to be the steal of the draft, and further boost the Jurassic Parka juggernaut.

As the calendar flips to June, the remaining movies will debut and the first champ will be crowned. Also, scout the trailers, because the Q3 draft will begin soon…

Iron Man 2 Kicks HFL in the Groin

Well, we all knew it was coming. And when it happened, it was just as bad as we all feared.

Through its first 10 days, "Iron Man 2" has grossed over $200 million, shooting Jurassic Parka to the top spot in the Hollywood Fantasy League standings.

If there is any silver lining for the other teams in the HFL, it's that the #1 pick has garnered worse reviews than expected. It currently has a Metacritic score of 57, which could keep McKenzie from completely running away with the title.

Reviews or no reviews, "Iron Man 2" is already the first movie to break 100 points, and still has 18 days to continue stomping the rest of the HFL farther and farther into the ground.

Glancing at the HFL standings is a good news/bad news situation for the Fo'ty Bustaz Film and Theater Company. Tim sees his team currently in second place, but the bad news is that he might not score more than a few points the rest of the season, as his entire roster is either done or close to done.

Much has yet to be written about the inaugural HFL season, as only Tim has all three of his movies in theaters, and two teams have not even had a movie released yet.

To this point, it appears that "Date Night" might have been the steal of the draft. Picked in the second round, it netted The Crack Commando Unit 42 points, the third-highest scoring movie so far. Depending on how "The A-Team" Performs later this summer, The Crack Commando Unit could challenge Jurassic Parka for first place... that is assuming anyone does.
