Welcome to the HFL!

Ladies and gentlemen... I give you The Hollywood Fantasy League!

The HFL is a group of movie buffs/fantasy sports nerds who decided to merge their interests and create a league which challenges owners to draft movies with the best combination of ticket sales and critical acclaim.

Here's how it works:
  • The Draft: Every three months, the owners of the HFL will have a draft to determine which movies are on their team's roster.
  • The Rosters: Each owner drafts three movies. The movies must have a release date sometime in the next three months.
  • Scoring: Each movie's score is determined by multiplying its box office revenue by its Metacritic.com score. For example, let's say Movie X grossed $125 million and had a Metacritic score of 56%. It would earn 70 points for its HFL team. Combine the points of each team's movies, and you get the team's overall score.
Scoring notes:
  1. Box office totals are calculated for the first four weeks of a movie's release.
  2. Metacritic score on the movie's fourth week is used.

The Draft for 2010 Quarter 2 will be happening soon... stay tuned for the first weekend's results.
